Anne Katrine Senstad is a New York-based Norwegian multidisciplinary artist who works at the intersections of installation, photography, video, land art, and site- and time-specific art. Her work is concerned with sensorial aesthetics, transcendental ideas of art and philosophical practice, and social-political awareness. Having studied at the University of California at Berkeley and earning her BFA Hons in Photography from the Parsons School of Design in New York, she went on to study film at the New School for Social Research in New York.
Group exhibitions include the Bruges Art and Architecture Triennale (2015), the 56th Venice Biennale at El Magazen dell'Arte (2015), the 55th Venice Biennale at Officina delle Zattere (2013), Zendai MOMA, Shanghai, as part of an exhibition of the museum's collection (2009), and at the New Orleans Biennial (2008 and 2014). Solo exhibitions include Color Gamut, Zhulong Gallery, Dallas (2015) and State of Space, Saltarelli Salong, Oslo (2013), while recent group exhibitions include Material Way, Shirley Fiterman Art Center, New York (2014), and The Age of Transformation, Liwa Art Hub, UAE (2014).
Highlights and Collections
Senstad has created numerous major public art commissions, including portraits for the Penn State Engineering Building lobby, commissioned by award-winning architecture firm Todd Williams and Billie Tsien Architects, NY (2003), and The Eternal, a 2011 collaboration with the internationally renowned architecture firm Snøhetta at The Wolfe Center for the Arts, Bowling Green State Univeristy, Ohio. She was the artist-in-residence at the Abu Dhabi Art Hub, UAE, in 2014, culminating in an exhibition entitled Interlacing Worlds - The Infinitesimal. Senstad's work is represented in gallery, institutional, corporate and private collections internationally.
